Republicans favored in the 10th CDRC

Michigan's 10th Congressional District has a rich history of Republican representation since its establishment in 1883. The district's first representative, Herschel H. Hatch, served from 1883 to 1885. Over the years, the district has seen several notable Republican figures:

  • Rousseau O. Crump (1895–1901): Served multiple terms until his death in office.
  • Elford Albin Cederberg (1953–1978): Had a long tenure, serving for 25 years.
  • Bill Schuette (1985–1991): Later became Michigan's Attorney General.
  • Candice Miller (2003–2016): Served seven terms before retiring.

In recent years, the district has continued its Republican trend. John James, a businessman and combat veteran, was elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, defeating Democrat Carl Marlinga in both elections.

James focuses on issues like lowering inflation, securing borders, and strengthening the economy. Congressman John James

Overall, Michigan's 10th Congressional District has predominantly favored Republican leadership throughout its history, with representatives contributing significantly to both state and national politics.
