U.S. Congressman John James
The 10th District is represented by Republican John James, who secured re-election in the 2024 elections, defeating Democratic challenger Carl Marlinga.
John James is an American businessman, combat veteran, and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 10th congressional district since 2023.
Wikipedia Born on June 8, 1981, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Iraq War. After his military service, James earned a Master of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Penn State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. He then joined his family's business, James Group International, eventually becoming its president.
In politics, James was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan in 2018 and 2020. In 2022, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Michigan's 10th congressional district, which includes parts of Macomb and Oakland counties.

John’s previous academic and professional accomplishments include graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2004, with a major in Law and with a concentration in Systems (Industrial) Engineering. He was subsequently commissioned as an Army Aviation Officer who, upon completion of Ranger School, led an Apache platoon in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 07-09.
James, 35, received his Master of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Penn State University, Smeal School of Business, in August 2014 and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business, in May 2015.
James Group International was honored in Crains Detroit: 50 Fastest Growing Companies 2014. John was personally honored in the Michigan Chronicle's: Class of 2014 40 Under 40 and in dBusiness: 30 in Their Thirties 2012. John is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, who was featured in Transportation & Logistics International Magazine. John has also had the honor of speaking at the Mackinac Policy Conference in 2014.
John is currently serving as Chairman of Michigan Veteran’s Trust Fund, Read to a Child, Regional Board Member and is a member of Kappa Delta Lambda, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
